The Royal Thames Yacht Club has a long experience of running successful world class regattas for the international sailing community but the Flag Officers who are themselves senior businessmen felt strongly that the club lacked an event that would appeal both to sailors and the business community.

 

The Cumberland Cup has been developed with dual sporting and business objectives with particular emphasis on providing world class VIP entertainment for a sponsors Customers and senor staff right in the Heart of the City which allows it to compete directly with almost all other London based sponsorship or Client entertainment opportunities.
